Contribution guidelines
-
Editorial content vs Advertorial content
The bulk of the magazine consists of editorial content – that is, text and images which provide information, expertise, opinion and sometimes inspiration. Editorial does not promote a company, product or service. Advertorial content promotes a product or service.
-
Contact us first!
If you wish to write an editorial piece, please contact the editor first with a specific story idea.
If you wish to submit a piece you have already written, please note we seek to publish only material which has not been published in New Zealand before.
If you wish to submit an advertorial (promotional) piece or discuss advertising, please contact our advertising manager.
-
Original material
We prefer to publish only original editorial – that is, material which has not been published in New Zealand before. Please disclose if your contribution has also been submitted elsewhere.
-
Copyright
Thomson Reuters, publisher of Safeguard, holds the copyright on any material we commission for the magazine. In submitting a piece, the author licenses us to publish it in Safeguard and associated websites and publications.
-
Writing style
Safeguard is not an academic journal. We publish material written in conversational English suitable for a wide readership, from the staff canteen to the boardroom. Don’t worry about the finer points of grammar and spelling – we will edit your material so that it shines! What we want is your expertise and enthusiasm.
